Experiential tourism for groups
Sicilian craftsmanship for your Mount Etna itineraries
Lava stone reveals another side of Mount Etna: the people who turn basalt into glazed surfaces, decorative patterns and works of art. At Artesole, guests discover craftsmanship where it happens, then move from watching to decorating their own keepsake from the trip.
For tour operators, travel agencies and DMCs planning eastern Sicily itineraries, a visit in Giarre is a possible stop on programmes featuring Mount Etna, Catania and Taormina. Dates, timings and group arrangements must be agreed directly with Artesole.
Discover glazed lava stone
From basalt to a souvenir
The experience at the Artesole workshop
Four stages to discover lava stone craftsmanship, try hand decoration and share the flavours of Sicily. The full experience lasts approximately an hour and a half.
Welcome to the showrooms
The experience begins with a welcome at the company and a visit to our showrooms. The objects on display introduce guests to the colours, patterns and creative possibilities of Artesole craftsmanship.

Guided visit to the production areas
The guided visit explains how lava stone is worked and transformed, from cutting and shaping to glazing, decoration and firing. It is an opportunity to understand the connection between volcanic material, craft techniques and finished objects.

Decorate a souvenir tile
Guests take part in a hands-on decorating activity, creating a tile or a small piece to keep as a souvenir. The piece is handed over the day after it is made; guests continuing their trip can arrange shipping at their own expense.

A short Sicilian break
The programme features a short break with traditional Sicilian products, a sociable moment that rounds off the discovery of local craftsmanship. Details of the break and any group dietary requirements are agreed when arranging the visit.
