Made-to-measure shabby chic masonry-style kitchens

A shabby chic kitchen can combine light doors, classic shapes and floral decoration without covering every surface in ornament. D’Altri Tempi, Vintage and Emilia Romagna show different interpretations. These kitchens were made for our clients: you can choose one as a starting point. We design your made-to-measure kitchen with a dismantlable masonry-style structure, coordinating layout, wood, colors and lava stone with your home.

Shabby chic and country: what changes in the kitchen

Shabby chic suggests a lived-in, romantic atmosphere: soft colors, shaped doors, glazed cabinets and small decorative details. Country style often gives more prominence to visible wood and warm tones. The two can meet, as in Emilia Romagna, while retaining their differences.

For a white shabby chic kitchen, D’Altri Tempi and Vintage provide more direct references. We can use just a few elements in your design, such as light doors and a floral countertop motif, keeping the rest simpler. Your designer proposes combinations that also consider existing floors and furniture.

Solid wood doors, white and soft colors

For our classic kitchens we use solid oak, chestnut, walnut, ash or cherry doors. We start with the material, then define the door model and color. A shaped frame and a light shade can create a romantic character; showing more wood brings the scheme closer to country chic.

White, ivory and cream are starting points for a shabby palette. We coordinate them with tiles, grout and countertop, focusing decoration where you want it to stand out. To see door models and finishes in person, we recommend arranging a workshop visit with your designer: samples help you choose among the available options.

Shabby chic and distressed finishes: style and technique

Shabby chic names an interior style; distressing describes a surface treatment. In furniture terminology, an Italian decapato effect can reveal wood or layers of color to create a worn appearance. A white door alone does not establish that it has this finish.

You can create a shabby atmosphere without a distressed finish: door shapes, colors and combinations also matter. For your kitchen we choose material, door model and color from available options, coordinating them with decoration and countertop details.

Lava stone countertops and coordinated cladding

The ceramicised lava stone countertop can be plain-color or decorated. A floral motif can become the focus of a romantic kitchen; a uniform surface gives door shapes and glazed cabinets more prominence. Your designer coordinates the countertop with cladding tiles and grout, connecting colors without repeating the same pattern everywhere.

Tell us at the quote stage if you want a particular motif or many decorated tiles: the quantity and complexity of the work affect the cost. During countertop decoration we can send progress photos to agree confirmations or changes. For everyday cleaning, ceramicised lava stone is easy to care for with a clean cloth and neutral detergent.

Linear, island or peninsula kitchens

The shabby style works with different layouts. D’Altri Tempi shows a linear composition; Vintage and Emilia Romagna have islands. For your home we assess the floor plan, walkways, table and appliances. Our designer checks whether an island or peninsula is feasible and proposes suitable shapes and dimensions, or an alternative layout.

In a small room, light colors and romantic details can also work with a linear or corner kitchen. The aim is to retain working space and storage for everyday use. The photos provide style references: your kitchen does not need to reproduce the dimensions of the one you like.

How we design your made-to-measure shabby chic kitchen

The initial quote defines the spaces, layout of elements and appliances to integrate. Our masonry-style kitchens have a tiled marine-plywood structure, prepared and sealed in our workshop. We handle design, manufacture and installation; after acceptance we take exact measurements at your home to complete production details.

Without particular preferences, we propose standard fittings, finishes and decoration described in the quote. Doors, colors, tiles and grout can also be selected after acceptance from the included options. A plain-color countertop, an elaborate motif or more decorated tiles involve different work: discussing them from the start helps us quote for the kitchen you want.

Questions about shabby chic kitchens

What is the difference between shabby chic and country kitchens?

Shabby chic favours soft colors, classic shapes and a romantic atmosphere; country can emphasise wood and warm tones. D’Altri Tempi and Vintage are the closest shabby references in this selection, while Emilia Romagna offers country chic with shabby influences. We can incorporate the details you prefer in your design.

Does a shabby chic kitchen need distressed doors?

No. Shabby chic is a style; distressing is a finish that can contribute to a worn appearance. Light colors, shaped doors, glazed cabinets and decoration can also create a shabby atmosphere without that treatment. For our kitchens we choose material, door model and color from available options.

Does a shabby chic kitchen have to be white?

White is a common reference, but not the only one. Ivory, cream and other soft shades can create a romantic scheme; visible wood adds warmth. We define door color together with cladding and countertop from available finishes. You can show us photos or combinations you like.

Are your shabby chic kitchens built in masonry or masonry style?

They are dismantlable masonry-style kitchens with a tiled marine-plywood structure. Their appearance recalls traditional masonry, while the kitchen is prepared in our workshop and installed by us. We design the composition and finishes around your needs, using the photographed kitchens as inspiration.

Can you make a shabby chic kitchen with an island?

Yes, where space permits. Vintage and Emilia Romagna show two completed kitchens with islands. Your designer assesses feasibility on the floor plan, considering walkways, table and appliance openings. If an island does not suit the room, we can study a peninsula or another layout while keeping the style you like.

How much does a made-to-measure shabby chic kitchen cost?

Our kitchens have an indicative range of €10,000–€30,000. This is not a price assigned to the three examples shown: your quote depends on layout, materials, appliances and requested decoration. Plain-color and decorated countertops involve different work; elaborate motifs or more decorated tiles are assessed for your design.

What should I send for my kitchen quote?

Tell us the room dimensions and attach a JPG or JPEG floor plan to the form, up to 10 MB. Describe the example you like, preferred layout and whether you want a plain-color or decorated countertop. Include particular requests and appliances to integrate. Photos and other information can also be sent to info@artesole.it.

Can I use appliances I buy myself?

You can choose appliances supplied by us or buy them yourself. In the latter case, tell us the make and model so we can integrate them into the design. Supply choices and inclusions are defined in the quote; appliances in the photos belong to the kitchens made for those clients.
